The YMCA is the largest provider of child care programs in the country, offering family-centered, value-based programs to support the healthy development of children. It works with schools, community organizations, faith-based groups, and child care providers across Ohio to increase participation in USDA child nutrition programs. The YMCA also provides a nationally recognized program developed by pediatricians that offers quality child care training programs for young people in many locations in Columbus and Ohio. They also offer year-round parenting classes for parents with children of all ages throughout Central Ohio, provide advice on how to choose quality day care, assist people who manage in-home day care, and offer a family-centered kindergarten preparation program.
The ADAM Project (Automated Defibrillators in Adam's Memory) helps schools across the country implement programs to make automated external defibrillators (AEDs) easily accessible by preparing schools for a cardiac emergency through emergency response plans, CPR and AED staff training, CPR education for students, and education about sudden cardiac arrests. OPEPP is a collaboration between the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS), the Big Lots behavioral health services at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and local early childhood mental health providers. It provides early childhood educational support for children with special needs who live in Licking County school districts.
